On Friday, National Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas shared on Facebook that 4.5 km of coils of sharp wire used in military engineering (concerts) were used from military reserves and are still expected “from other countries”. A. Abramavičius confirmed that this information is correct.

“To build a concert, you must first have it, here is the question. We are currently looking for different countries that can offer to buy. Nobody produces them in Lithuania, that is, they cannot produce such a diameter in Lithuania. The closest country is Poland, but Poland has also made a request for the protection of its border, ”A. Abramavičius told BNS.

The deputy minister said additional amounts of wire were being sought “bilaterally”, and several countries were being talked about the possibility of buying a concert or receiving gifts, including Denmark and Slovenia.

“It can be donated, it depends on the countries. A couple of countries have done it now. But it is precisely these goods that do not fall within the European civil protection mechanism, they are rather a military nomenclature.” … it is a product of a specific nature that cannot be shared anyway, “he said.

In the near future, it is planned to buy another 20 km of sharp wire used at the border.

In the near future, it is planned to buy another 20 km of concert wire, sharp wires used on the border with Belarus, says Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vitaly Dmitriev.

“We are going to buy another 20 km and then we will go in stages … We plan in separate sections,” the deputy minister told BNS on Friday.

It did not reveal exactly which sections of the edge this sharp wire was intended to be placed on.

“I don’t want to reveal much, but we have such a risky section, that we are monitoring more and we plan to put all the measures in the sections of that section at the beginning,” Dmitrijev said.

He added that in such sections it is planned to use not only the concert hall, but also to purchase additional fences.

“These are long-term processes, but we have identified those sections and we are going to work on that,” said the Vice Minister of the Interior.

Construction of a razor-wire barrier on the border with Belarus began two weeks ago in response to the dramatic increase in illegal immigration in recent months. The barrier, which is expected to help detain the migrants, has been built by the army, and the Ministry of the Interior and the State Border Guard Service (SBGS) continue to deal with the acquisition and installation of the cable.

Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė said that in total it is planned to install a barrier on the 550-kilometer border section, later a larger fence will be built, which could cost around 41 million. euros.

SBGS commander Rustama Liubajev said two weeks ago that the barbed wire barrier could be fully installed in a few months.
