F. Latėnas was born in 1956. May 16, in Dusetos. 1980 graduated from the Lithuanian State Conservatory with a degree in composition.

1979-1990 he worked as director of the musical part at the Vilnius Puppet Theater, 1990–1991. – the director of this theater. 1991-1995 Responsible for the musical part of the Little Theater of Vilnius. 1995-1996 Director of the Lithuanian State Academic Drama Theater.

1996 appointed Vice Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. 1997-1999 State Consultant for Cultural Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. 1999 won the competition for the position of Director General of the Lithuanian National Drama Theater. 2000-2005 Head of the Small State Theater of Vilnius. 2005 for the second time he became the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. Since 2006 he worked as an advisor to the Prime Minister.

F. Latėnas has written music for many well-known Lithuanian films, such as “My Little Wife”, “Children from the Hotel of America”, “Jazz”.
