Circle K miles Plus Racing Team triumphs for the third time in a row in the Aurum 1006 km race

The winner of this year’s race was announced only in the last minutes. The Circle K miles Plus Racing Team triumphed in a single lap, beating their main rivals, the Balpol by SPS Automotive Performance Team, with the never-before-seen Mercedes AMG GT3 in the race.

This year’s 1006km Aurum race ended in an unusual way: no team managed to cover the 1006km (373 laps) distance, so the finish was announced exactly ten hours after the start, at 22:02.

The Porsche GT3 Cup II and the Mercedes AMG GT3 faced each other directly for victory in the general classification from the beginning to the end of the race. Even the starting order seemed the same: the Porsche GT3 Cup II started first and the Mercedes AMG GT3 also passed second.

The leaders of the race changed several times, and the most important advantage (one lap – aut.) Was obtained by the Circle K miles Plus race team less than half an hour before the end of the race.

At that point, Balpol by SPS Automotive Performance was forced to refuel for the last time, a procedure that lasted two minutes and was overrun by a one-minute Circle K miles Plus Racing Team before refueling.

During the race, one episode almost ended in serious tragedy. 114 engines before the finish, the EU Motorsport team’s Porsche car caught fire on the track. The driver managed to get out of the car, but the Porsche itself burned almost completely, burning in an open flame.

After this episode, the race was stopped, and then after 40 minutes, the judges allowed the race to continue.

Overall, there were several incidents in this 22-time race. As the participants approached the finish line, a BMW car driven by Tomas Rimkus had an accident, and Vaidotas Žala also drove in this team. The team’s mechanics were able to lift the car, but there was not enough time to fight due to more serious positions.

At the beginning of the race, just 12 minutes after the start, Dovilas Čiutė’s LADA car caught fire from the inside.

Two hours after the start, the incident also occurred in the pit area. There, the car crashed the head of the Circle K miles Plus racing team. The man fell to the ground, unable to stand for some time, but was able to avoid more serious injuries.

RACE PROCEDURE:

21:22 val. 40 minutes left. Automotive performance team leader Balpol by SPS has a two-wheeler advantage, beating the Circle K miles Plus Racing Team.

20:45 val. There is 1 hour until the end of the race. 15 minutes or 80 laps. There is almost no doubt that in that time no participant will be able to cover the 1006 km distance. Leaders remain “Circle K miles Plus Racing Team” komanda.

20:08 val. The BMW car that had an accident, which was driven by Tomas Rimkus, stopped on the track. Vaidotas Žala also competed on this team. This team can no longer continue the race.

20:00 val. The Circle K miles Plus racing team is gaining ground on its rivals. They are already three laps ahead of the Balpol by SPS Automotive Performance Crew.

7:40 pm The race continues.

19:20 val. It is not yet clear if the race will be extended. If the judges start again, it is very likely that no participant will be able to cover the 1006 km distance at 10 pm In this case, the race will end at 10 pm. and will be defeated by the team that will be in first place at that time.

6:40 pm THE RACE STOPS. A Porsche car caught fire on the track and burned almost completely. He belonged to the EU Motorsport team in fourth place, led by Ramūnas Čapkauskas. The driver was not injured.

17:30 val. Great solution for Balpol by SPS Automotive Performance Team. Just before the yellow flags managed to ignite the fuel and now Nemunas Dagilis is picking up the pace in first position.

17:15 val. The Circle K miles Plus racing team, led by Julius Adomavičius, took the initiative with great force. The team has driven 200 laps and came back from the pit area in first place.

16:15 val. After the change of drivers, the leader changes: “Balpol by SPS automotive performance” advances. 157 laps completed.

15:45 val. Yellow flags on the track again. The Lesta team car became a barrier at the Kretinga curve. The organizers decide what to do with the damaged section of the road. The leaders are still the Circle K miles Plus racing team.

15:00 val. The ranks of leaders are changing. Three hours later, the Circle K miles Plus racing team blew up.

14:40 val. A painful incident in the pit area. Circle K miles Plus racing team boss was hit by a car. It is true that the man managed to avoid more serious injuries.

14:25 val. The race leaders have already covered a hundred laps.

2:00 pm val. The leaders had 290 laps remaining. There are no changes in the ranks of leaders. The first place is currently held by the Mercedes AMG GT3, the second by the Porsche GT3 Cup II.

13:00 val. The first hour of the race has passed, the leaders have covered 36 laps of 373. The Mercedes AMG GT3 remains in the first position.

12:30 val. After the first half hour, the Balpol by SPS Automotive Performance Team is in the lead. They’re breathing on the back of the Circle K miles Plus racing team. His Porsche GT3 Cup II started from the top position.

12:12 val. Dovilas Čiutė’s LADA car caught fire from the inside, retiring from the race just after six laps.

12:02 pm INCIDENTS. Already in the first corner, there was a small accident caused by one of the drivers driving the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo. His car missed the trajectory and hit the barriers.
