The former candidate was isolated in the presidential elections in Belarus last Saturday when it became clear that the Slovenian foreign minister, whom she had met in Vilnius, had contracted the coronavirus.
“Sviatlana took the test on Monday and got a negative result. She is now in quarantine, working remotely from home, following all precautions recommended by doctors. She plans to leave her self-isolation and join the team starting Monday,” he said to BNS Anna Krasulina, a spokeswoman for Cichanouskaya, on Thursday.
S. Cichanouskaja arrived in Lithuania shortly after authorities loyal to Aliaksandr Lukashenko announced that he had won the presidential election on August 9. The opposition and the West say the election was rigged. The protests against Lukashenko have been going on in Belarus for more than two months.
