Faced with the situation of the coronavirus pandemic, while protecting himself and others, the lighting of the city’s central fir tree and the festive concert this time, the port city called a special broadcast at home.
This year, Klaipėda’s spouses Bronislovas and Aldona Jankauskas donated almost 12 meters of fir to Klaip spda. A tree grew in his garden for about 30 years. The couple received a Christmas tree seedling from the city as a gift.
On the festive evening, Klaipėda residents and all those who love the port city saw an intriguing start to the journey towards Christmas during the webcast: a festive concert dedicated to Klaipėda with greetings from artists from various Lithuanian cities.
A Christmas tree is lit in Klaipeda
The concert “Christmas comes to Klaipeda” brought together several capitals: Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, Kaunas, the temporary capital, Nida, the future capital of Lithuanian culture and Klaipeda, the future European capital of youth. The festive concert was conducted by Santa Claus himself.
In the theater square, along with the Christmas tree, the lighting installation “Star of the North” that accompanied the Three Wise Men until the entire festive period was illuminated. The author of the installation is the light artist Arvydas Buinauskas.
