Vilnius Christmas trees will be planted near the Verkiai Palace in a specially selected area.
According to the mayor of the capital, Remigijus Šimašius, about 20 Christmas trees were planted from morning to noon.
At the end of Christmas, the townspeople are invited to keep the Christmas trees planted in the pots and take them to the future Christmas forest in spring.
“I believe that together with the residents of Vilnius we will plant so many Christmas trees that the name of the new Christmas forest could appear on the city map. I also believe that before next Christmas, even more people will choose to decorate live Christmas trees for contribute to the creation of a new forest, ”said R. Šimašius.
On Saturday, employees of the Vilnius city park will be waiting for Vilnius residents with their Christmas trees, shovels and sprinklers.
Employees of Vilnius city parks lend money to citizens who do not have the means to plant.
According to the municipality, before preparing to arrive, you should assess the condition of your Christmas tree yourself: if it has a lot of thorns, it is not worth planting.
If someone can’t come on a Saturday, they can come later – planting sites will be marked with stakes.
