SDNA’s George Zakkas reports that Greg Monroe, the team’s rookie, was injured in the victorious match against Krasnoyarsk Yenisei. The forward felt pain in the thigh area and did not return to the field. Additional tests will be done on the basketball player in the near future.
Team leader Alexei Švedas is expected to be ready for Friday’s game, but at least it is not yet clear whether the defender will actually be able to step on the floor.
At that point, Stefan Jovičius and Errick McCollum, who joined the team this summer, will not really help the team in Friday’s game.
“We are not in the best situation at the moment, because we do not have men leading the team forward,” said Rimas Kurtinaitis after the victory against Yenisei. “The team was built around Sweden, and when both Jovičius and McCollum go down, we have to change our game.”
