According to the Commissioner General, together with border guards, the police have begun to monitor vehicles and people traveling in the direction of Poland, and patrols in the country have intensified, paying attention to the people’s gym.
“We are starting to monitor vehicles and people going to Poland with our partner border guards and customs officers,” Požėla said on Friday.
“Our patrols in the territory of the country have intensified from the first days, paying attention to the vehicles and the people in them that are in non-European physical condition. The legality of his trip is being verified ”, said the commissioner general.
R. Požėla also pointed out that intelligence is exchanged with the criminal police and the processes are monitored on social media.
“Working according to the criminal police line, there is a constant exchange of intelligence with both Poles and Latvians. We monitor what processes are happening on social media to obtain information. The Lithuanian police are certainly very involved in assisting: they use certain reserves, but only in this way, when services work together, can results be achieved, ”he said.
All these measures, says the Commissioner General of Police, are a kind of message that Lithuania is not a “transitional yard”.
“Our services send a very clear message to both East and West that the services will not allow people to exercise or abuse their right of asylum, Lithuania will not become a transitional yard,” said R. Požėla.
Recently, the flows of illegal immigrants have not crossed the border between Lithuania and Belarus. According to the State Border Guard Service (SBGS), a total of more than 1,500 illegal immigrants have been detained on the border with Belarus this year.
