According to the representative of R. Sinkevičius, the new adviser to the ministry will also oversee the development of the free economic zones (FEZ), advise on general matters and monitor the implementation of the country’s investment projects.
J. Pinskus, formerly a member of the Labor Party, worked as Deputy Mayor of Vilnius in 2018, together with his wife, the mayor of the Širvintos Živile Pinskuvienė district municipality, was one of the founders of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Labor Party (LSDDP) led by Gediminas Kirkilas.
In 2019 to the municipal elections Ž. Pinskuvienė went with her own public elections committee and was re-elected to chair the Širvintos District Municipal Council.
However, in November of the same year, the politician publicly announced his resignation from the LSDDP, which included Vice President G. Kirkilas.
Ž. At the time, Pinskuvienė made no secret that the decision to leave the party was made due to Petras Čimbaras, an elected MP from the Širvintos – Molėtai constituency, who was working in the LSDDP faction in the Seimas at the time.
The latter recently announced his candidacy for Seimas with the Labor Party.
“In announcing that I resigned from the Lithuanian Social Democratic Labor Party, I apologize for encouraging me to support this political force, to campaign to vote for Petras Čimbaras in the Seimas elections. It was a painful mistake,” Ž. Pinskuvienė.
J. Pinskus, who is beginning his work as an advisor to the Minister in the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, applied to apply in the single-member constituency of the territory of the municipality headed by his wife.
Both P. Čimbaras and Agnė Širinskienė, a representative of LVŽS, promise to be his opponents.
The Minister’s new adviser, J. Pinskus, should start work tomorrow, August 4.
J. Pinskus is not the only new member of the team of R. Sinkevičius, the recent Minister of Economy and Innovation.
Vitalija Jankauskaitė – Milčiuvienė, the future candidate of the Lithuanian Union of Peasants and Greens for Seimas, should start working as Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation from Tuesday.
Parliamentarian R. Sinkevičius began working as Minister of Economy and Innovation after this position became vacant after the Commissioner of the European Commission became Virginijus Sinkevičius.
Son of Minister R. Sinkevičius, the mayor of the Jonava district municipality, Mindaugas Sinkevičius, is the president of the Association of Municipalities of Lithuania. He recently announced that he would not seek elections for the Seimas and withdrew from the electoral census of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania.
