Cesiulis: Vaccine money only hurts the vaccination process

“We will award the three best municipalities, which probably, but no later than December 1, will reach 90 or 98 percent. result, ”said A. Dulkys.

A. Dulkys does not yet know exactly how much the municipality could receive, but anticipates that the bonuses for the people who contributed the most to the result of the vaccination would be calculated from the national average salary (VMU), which exceeds 1.5 thousand. euros.

“Individuals could be paid up to 30%. VMU size bonuses. If the municipality reaches 98%, then – up to 50%,” said A. Dulkys.

Cesiulis: Vaccine money only hurts the vaccination process

Although A. Dulkys has not yet established cash awards for municipalities, some of them are already refusing to participate in the vaccination race. For example, the city of Alytus.

“It is complete nonsense, the municipality does not vaccinate for some awards or achievements, being in first or second place, we vaccinate people if they want to be vaccinated. The municipality will definitely not participate in this place, “said Alytus Mayor Nerijus Cesiulis.

According to N. Cesiulis, money for vaccines only damages the vaccination process. The mayor has already realized this with the promised payment of 100 euros for the elderly.

“Imagine if there had been advances all the time, that we would have vaccinated the same amount, and now, hearing that there will be, now they are waiting, or they will really give. In this place, when Lithuania is turning red or black, and we have a higher number of infections, some of the most vulnerable groups are waiting, ”said N. Cesiulis.

The best vaccination is in Neringa, the worst in Šalčininkai

The cash prize has already been secured by the municipality of Neringa. It has the best vaccination result in the country: 95 percent. Although there are only three thousand inhabitants in Neringa, some of whom do not even live there, but are only registered.

The other two municipalities that best vaccinate are Akmenė and Alytus districts. The mayor of Akmenė tends to increase profits not for the municipality but for family doctors.

“The best incentive would still be to increase the rate for a certain function: the number of vaccinations carried out (…). This would be an incentive that would be more financially significant, ”said Vitalijus Mitrofanovas, mayor of Akmenė district.

The Salcininkai district, which has achieved the worst vaccination results so far, is only 40 percent. The Vilnius and Klaipėda districts have only crossed 50 percent. barrier.

Klaipėda District Mayor Bronius Markauskas is optimistic about the money for self-government.

“As we are still not satisfied with the vaccination rate, we believe that this measure should contribute to some extent,” said B. Markauskas.

Incentives pay more for residents

It seems that the government is willing not to limit money for vaccines for the elderly. The ministers have already approved a single payment of € 100 for vaccinated people over 75 years of age.

In addition, it promises prizes to municipalities and benefits of 15 euros higher for family doctors.

“Either borrow and share financial incentives to get vaccinated, or borrow and share financial incentives for companies if more stringent measures need to be implemented; if you count between these two bad options, it is clear that financial incentives give more results,” he said the Economist. Alexander Izgorodin.
