CEC has launched an investigation into government-initiated thanksgiving concerts

Conservative Kęstutis Masiulis, a member of Seimas, addressed the CEC on Tuesday and requested an assessment of the gratitude sent by Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis and the action initiated by the Government. According to K. Masiulis, this is a violation of advertising and the electoral campaign.

“This report has been received and sent to the Political Campaign Financing Unit to initiate an investigation. In his speech, the speaker points out that there is a period of political campaign and that the government is organizing such concerts that could attract the attention of the public. voters and encourage them to support them later, ”said Gitana Matiekuvienė, a CEC member.

As Giedrius Surplys, the Advisor to the Prime Minister and the Head of the Public Information Group, announced on Monday, the campaign aims to thank everyone who contributed to overcoming the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic in Lithuania.

The Seimas elections in Lithuania are scheduled for October 11 of this year.
