Violations of the right to vote of isolated voters are recorded
On Monday morning, Marija Šaraitė, director of Baltoji pirštinė, told the tv3.lt news portal that the organization has received almost a hundred complaints from isolated voters.
“In many cases, people write the whole story in a long letter that in those days, usually, even when it was possible to officially register properly, they asked the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to vote in self-isolation.
Most of the time people received confirmation, called and even knew what the representative of the electoral commission is responsible for. They just didn’t welcome them home, “says M. Šaraitė about the situation.
In his opinion, such a violation of the rights of voters is extremely serious, so the CEC must take responsibility and ensure that everyone has the same right to vote in the second round of elections.
“Electoral commissions do not function responsibly and the CEC must take responsibility,” explains the head of the White Gloves.
Ms Šaraitė also assures that the organization itself will take further action and perhaps even seek legal assistance:
We will probably ask the voters themselves what their attitude and perseverance are and what they would like to do next. Our attorneys are now considering and deciding what options are available, what complaints, and communication with the CCA; it may be worth going to court. “
