The Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports that it has completed a pre-trial investigation into possible sexual abuse and attempted rape. A 53-year-old man living in Klaipeda will appear in court.
According to the pre-trial investigation, in mid-September the suspect and the injured woman were accidentally discovered on public transport in the city.
While traveling on the same bus, after a spontaneous start, the passengers decided to exchange contacts and meet within hours. The meeting took place during the day, on a public lawn surrounded by supermarkets and residential houses.
On the occasion of the acquaintance, the couple had an alcoholic drink and communicated until approximately 4 pm the woman decided it was time to go home. According to the study, at a time when the woman was about to say goodbye, the man began to use violence, so when he felt a real threat, he secretly called the general emergency number and began to ask others for help. .
Fortunately, the two women who passed by were not indifferent and responded quickly to a call for help, calling the police officers. The prompt action of the agents and the assistance of witnesses made it possible to quickly locate and apprehend the suspect who had escaped from the scene and is currently in custody.
The pre-trial investigation in this case was conducted by officers of the Criminal Police Investigation Board of the Klaipėda County Police Chief Commissariat. The investigation was led by Kristina Blinstrubienė, Prosecutor of the Klaipėda District Prosecutor’s Office of the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The case was transferred to the Klaipėda City Council from the Klaipėda District Court.
