Cardinal changes are planned near Gariūnai: there will be no traffic lights, the viaducts will be raised

It is proposed to eliminate the traffic light intersection and install an overpass for pedestrians

The project proposals state that the existing traffic light intersection will be abolished, which will also eliminate all left turns and only allow right turns. The abolition of the intersection would guarantee an uninterrupted flow of traffic. It is proposed to install two roundabouts on both sides, and a pedestrian viaduct would be installed over the previous crossing, through the installed roundabouts.

4 additional traffic rings and a new car overpass

As already mentioned, two roundabouts would be installed on the opposite side of the old Gariūnai intersection, two more new roundabouts are planned elsewhere: one at the intersection of Pikeliškių and Kuro streets, the other on the other side, on the Gariūnai dead end. These two roundabouts would be connected by a car viaduct via Gariūnų Street.

“After the implementation of the project, drivers who want to reach other objects on the Gariūnų street side, will have to take a newly designed route: at the roundabout and above Gariūnų str. equipped with a viaduct. For pedestrians, new lanes for pedestrians and bicycles are planned, as well as a pedestrian viaduct with stairs and ramps. The pedestrian viaduct will allow to avoid the crossings of pedestrians and automobiles, and both pedestrians and automobiles will cross the crossing in a much safer and faster way ”, state the project proposals.

It is true that the projects mysteriously mention the reorganization of all the change of traffic flows, it is written that it is “the infrastructure of the street network until 2040.”
