Compare the family defense march to the Baltic Way
“When I was a child, I participated in the Baltic Way, the emotions are exactly the same. Full of cars, full of national symbols, huge columns and very good emotions ”, recalled the politician V.Ąžuolas.
He said the rulers’ priorities were demonstrated by the fact that Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė did not welcome the participants of the march, but issued a statement in support of the LGBT community.

– Mr. Oaks, would you probably agree that the emotional motive for the meeting on Saturday is quite different than it was three decades ago?
– The reason is similar: to have our own freedom, our own life, our rights and, most importantly, defend the Constitution of Lithuania, and we must protect it for all. What the president also mentioned is that the basis of the state is a strong marriage and family, between a man and a woman, the children born to him. These people want to defend the Constitution and their families.
– What does not give more peace of mind to the people who gather for the Family Defense March on the weekend?
– Probably not much peace. One of the main reasons, looking at the current government, the ruling leadership of the Seimas, is that, as if in theory, they care about everyone, but especially the LGBT community. A very basic example is the welcome speech. Only the president said. The head of government, the leadership of the Seimas, could not say, or even congratulate the participants. And on the Government page, we see a greeting for the LGBT celebration. It also evokes emotions that some are the same, but others are more equal and others are more cared for.
The company law requires 600 thousand. Lithuanian
Jūratė Juškaitė, communication manager of the Lithuanian Center for Human Rights (LHRC), who opposed politician V. Ąžuolas on the 15/15 program, said that he saw that part of society believed in false myths about the Istanbul Convention and the association. According to her, the association is not only relevant to the LGBT community.

More than 600 thousand people live in Lithuania. people who have never been married in their life
“More than 600 thousand people live in Lithuania. People who have never been married in their lives. I don’t know who is going to convince me that all these people are alone, do not create families, do not create emotional ties with each other and do not need protection. some ”- said the communication specialist of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.
According to J.Juškaitė, we have a gap in Lithuania, which has not been closed since 2001, when the Civil Code came into force, which provided for the establishment of the association, but a separate law was not adopted.
“I want to make it very clear that this is not just a law for the LGBT community, but a law for a large part of society. People who currently live together but are not married are not protected in any way. The opportunity to protect part of your property rights is by litigating and proving in court that you have made a monetary deposit, for example, buying an apartment, a car or something else. It also means that those who are in a worse economic situation, often women who earn less or raise children, say, after ten years of such association, can be left with nothing, ”said the communication manager of the Lithuanian Center for Human Rights. . .
