After entering the amount of electricity consumed per month or per year, the VERT calculator calculates what the average bill would be per month, in addition to detailing the applicable rates.
The spreadsheet is available on the website. skaiciuokle.vert.lt – is also redirected from the VERT website. Indicates that the spreadsheet works with all major web browsers.

“The price comparison calculator is a very useful tool that will facilitate the selection process, avoid confusion when choosing a provider and try to compare the power plans offered by different providers. In the calculator, you can see the preliminary prices offered by the providers based on the amount of electricity consumed. What many find difficult is actually accomplished in a few simple steps, ”confirms VERT president Renatas Pocius in a press release.
According to R. Pocius, the Irish and the Finns have introduced a similar price comparison calculator; This good practice has been used in the development of the calculator, since the liberalization process in the mentioned countries has already been completed.
How to use: one number is enough
It is not difficult to use the price comparison calculator, you just need to know how much electricity is being consumed per month or per year. The average household in Lithuania consumes just under 150 kilowatt hours of electricity per month.
After entering a single number, the price comparison calculator will find all the offers, displaying the cheapest option at the top of the page.
The price comparison calculator provides preliminary prices for electricity plans.
The consumer, who has chosen the most suitable plan for him, will be directed to the website of a specific electricity supplier, where he can choose a specific plan and conclude a contract with the supplier, choose additional benefits and discounts.
While a number is sufficient for a preliminary estimate, the calculator allows you to make adjustments to other inputs, such as comparing suppliers based on which more electricity is consumed per day, if plans for one time zone or two time zones are relevant.
“True, if you don’t currently have a dual time zone meter, but want a dual time zone pricing plan, your contract may take a while for the Power Distribution Operator to replace your meter,” VERT warns.
The calculator allows you to choose to compare plans based on whether your electricity comes from renewable energy sources.
Electricity provider plans can be compared according to the duration of the pricing, for example, 1 to 12 fixed months. or offers for 13-24 months or more than 2 years.
By clicking on “Who composes the invoice”, you can see what discount applied by the supplier is included in the calculation and other detailed information about what makes up the electricity bill.
Delfi has already written that final contracts are worth being careful about and reading: some providers, when they terminate contracts prematurely, demand that discounts be returned. Furthermore, electricity prices are now at record levels; it is worth considering whether it is worth fixing them for a long time.
What the calculator does not show is a comparison to the current invoice at utility rates, or a comparison to what the guaranteed supply price would be.
Lithuania is the last of the Baltic countries
The liberalization of the electricity market is taking place throughout the European Union. Lithuania started this process in 2009 and is now taking its final steps. Estonia did so in 2013 and Latvia in 2015.
The stages of market liberalization are determined on the basis of the Electricity Law of the Republic of Lithuania, which defines how and when the public supply to consumers will be cut off. Consumers cannot choose and proceed to the next stage, they can remain in the public supply only until the legal deadline.
The public provider will stop providing its services when the time for selecting a provider for a certain stage expires. If an independent supplier is not selected, there will be an interruption of the electricity supply at the price of the public electricity supply and the introduction of a guaranteed electricity supply: the Energy Distribution Operator (ESO) will guarantee a guaranteed supply at a higher price. ESO must guarantee the guaranteed supply for only 6 months, after which it will still be necessary to choose an independent supplier.

VERT explains that the liberalization aims at a competitive electricity market, which means a decision by the State to abandon monopoly conditions, stop regulating electricity prices and move to a competitive electricity supply market.
“This will ensure a high quality of services at the best price. Previously, other branches of the market were opened in Lithuania, such as the mobile communications sector, which is now one of the most efficient in Europe.” In European countries, only openly competitive companies can offer the best value for money. The state will continue to regulate only some components of the price: for transmission, distribution and services of public interest. The purchase and supply prices of electricity will be determined by the competition and the market price ”, explains VERT.
A competitive electricity supply market will offer other useful solutions for the Lithuanian population: new services, more diverse plans (for example, sale of electricity together with others, communication services, etc.), more favorable tariffs, smart solutions, etc.
“By choosing a supplier, you will buy cheaper electricity than in the case of guaranteed supply. As the supplier companies compete, you will receive a better service and will be able to choose between a variety of additional services that are offered to you ”, assures the regulator.
VERT invites you to consultations in V. Kudirka Square, Vilnius
VERT experts will consult with all those interested in power supply on 23 September from 12 noon to 3 pm in V. Kudirka Square, Vilnius. All interested parties will be informed about the choice of the electricity supplier, entered in the calculator. To date, VERT experts have visited 42 municipalities.
“I am glad that professional consultations from VERT experts are very popular. Both during the summer and early fall, residents are actively interested in choosing electricity providers and asking them questions. Market liberalization of electricity progresses smoothly and efficiently. In the first stage of choosing an electricity supplier, 99% chose an electricity supplier. consumers. I hope that the already accelerated second stage of electricity market liberalization will not be less successful, ”says R. Pocius, president of VERT.
VERT indicates that it answers consumer questions
VERT experts throughout Lithuania advise those interested in choosing an electricity supplier, answer all questions, explain why it is important to choose an electricity supplier, how many electricity suppliers are there, where to apply to choose an electricity supplier , what to do if there are uncertainties in the next stages, what will happen if you do not choose an electricity supplier, what is a guaranteed supply. Provides information on what is important to pay attention to when entering into contracts with electricity providers, introduces a new VERT tool – a price comparison calculator.
What makes up the price of electricity?
The price of electricity currently consists of 6 parts.
First of all, it is the price of the product itself: electricity. VERT does not regulate this part of the price and independent electricity providers compete by offering prices.
The second part is the supply price, which are the operating costs of the suppliers that are incurred in carrying out the electricity supply activities (for example, customer service, billing, etc. VERT does not regulate this part either).
The third part is the price of electricity transmission through high voltage lines. This is already a regulated part of VERT, which consists of the transmission system operator’s costs for the transmission of electricity through high-voltage electricity transmission networks.
The fourth part is the price of the system services. VERT regulates this part, it consists of services that ensure the stability and reliability of the operation of the energy system, the prevention and elimination of systemic accidents, the required energy reserve and the bandwidth in the transmission networks within the established quality limits. and reliability of the electrical supply. .
The fifth part is the price of electricity distribution. This is the regulated part of VERT, which consists of the costs incurred by distribution network companies in the distribution of electricity through medium and low voltage networks. The price of electricity distribution depends on the voltage from which consumers receive (consume) electricity.
The sixth part is the price of the public interest service (PSO). It is a regulated part of VERT for the production of electricity from renewable energy sources, balancing in the transmission and distribution network, centralized trading and other PSO costs, such as connection of power plants using renewable energy sources, management of PSO services, etc.
The value added tax is also added to the sum of all the parts.
