The Astrava nuclear power plant, which was closed on Sunday due to a breakdown, will not generate electricity in the near future, reports the Belarusian portal Tut.by, citing an unidentified source.
The Astrava nuclear power plant may no longer generate electricity as of Sunday, despite the fact that it was turned on last week. The Lithuanian operator of the Litgrid power transmission system confirmed that the power plant was suspended. On Monday, it was reported that the disturbances were caused by exploding voltage transformers.
According to a source at Tut.by, several voltage transformers exploded in a single unit connected to the generator. According to him, nothing dangerously happened at other power plants, such as the Leningrad nuclear power plant in Russia. However, research, power restoration and adaptation to innovation are time consuming.
Therefore, Astravo NPP will not generate electricity in the near future. The company intends to make claims and transformers to the supplier.
The Belarusian Energy Ministry announced late Monday that the commissioning phase of the power plant continues. According to his report, at this stage he emphasized the need to change the degree of electrical measurement and the work was carried out in accordance with the regulations provided in this case.
Electricity generation at the Astrava nuclear power plant started on Tuesday, and over the weekend Minsk announced that the capacity of the first reactor had been increased to 400 megawatts (MW). Immediately after connecting to the grid on Tuesday, the Astravo nuclear power plant was operating at 250 MW.
Minsk states that the test programs foresee that the capacity of the power unit will gradually increase to the 1,190 MW design, and commissioning of the first power unit for industrial operation is scheduled for 2021. first quarter
Due to the accident, the increase in radiation was not detected at the Astravo nuclear power plant.
