Border guards took over the drone that had smuggled out of Belarus

At midnight, from Sunday to Monday, Triboniai border guard officers from the Varėna border team of the SBGS patrolled the village of Pašalčys in the Šalčininkai district, near the border with Belarus. Border guards heard suspicious sounds in the dark. These are usually emitted by drones.

The object itself was soon noticed – it was captured by border guards with night vision equipment.

SBGS officers used a portable UAV interception system, successfully seized control of the aircraft, and forcibly landed it.

It turned out that a pack containing 300 packs of Minsk Capital MS cigarettes was attached to the DJI Matrice 600 Pro drone. The value of these smokers, including taxes to be paid in Lithuania, is just over 900 euros. The intercepted aircraft is sold for more than 5,600 euros without official accessories from official distributors.

SBGS officials surveyed the surrounding areas. The person controlling the drone was not found on the Lithuanian side. The Lithuanian Air Force was informed about the intercepted aircraft, as well as Belarusian officials.

The border guards investigating the incident have initiated an administrative process for violating the established procedure in relation to the movement of goods subject to excise duties.
