On Thursday, the officers of the Vilnius Border Team of the SBGS, while carrying out their service in the city of Adutiškis, Švenčionys district, already had information that an Audi 80 car could be transporting illegal cargo.
When he reached the place where the car was parked, his driver saw the border guards, got into the Audi 80 and sped away. The border guards demanded a stop through the loudspeaker of the official Škoda Octavia car and after turning on the beacons. The refugee, who disobeyed the request, obstructed and damaged the official car, reports the SBGS.
The driver of the Audi 80 then accelerated and headed into the Ignalina district. The border guards began to chase the fugitive with light and sound signals activated by the official car. The hunt lasted about 8 kilometers. The driver apparently realized that the leak would fail. After passing through the village of Svyloniai in the Švenčionys district, he stopped.
The Audi 80 was driven by a 59-year-old resident of the Švenčionys district, who is well known to the border guards, and was often arrested for smuggling. The man refused to get out of the car, behaved aggressively, used uncensored words. Border guards had to use wrestling and restrain the fugitive with handcuffs.

The police were summoned to the scene and an accident declaration was filed for damage to the official vehicle. The man did not deny that he was the culprit.
A resident of the Švenčionys district was presented to the Adutiškis border firewall of the Vilnius border team to find out the circumstances of the event and draw up an administrative protocol.
For the transport of products subject to excise duties in violation of the established procedure, if the violation is repeated, it is subject to a fine of 5,760 to 6,000 euros. Failure to comply with the legal request of SBGS officials to stop is punishable by a fine of 850 to 1,200 euros, and for failure to comply with the official’s order, from 90 to 140 euros. The Audi 80 can also be impounded.
After serving the summons to appear in court, a resident of the Švenčionys district was released. The car and cigarettes are stored at the Adutiškis border firewall.
