“We reserved this place, it is, it has not yet been removed from the list, but there are currently no decisions on the transport of people, but we do not withdraw,” the minister told reporters on Wednesday.
He also said that the technical school in the city of Dieveniškės is considered a reserve place to accommodate migrants, because “the situation can change every day.”
The minister also said that the expectations of the local population had been listened to, but then the dialogue was interrupted.
“We also listened to the expectations expressed by the community – more than once the vice ministers met, talked with the representatives of the local government, talked with the community, it was agreed that there will be some negotiations, we will come up with our proposals, but unfortunately we saw that other groups of people and that dialogue did not take place ”, said A. Bilotaitė.
“I am very hopeful that awareness and concentration will emerge and we will realize that these are very serious things,” he added.
The Interior Ministry had previously planned to host several hundred migrants for the first of September at the former Dieveniškės technical school.
The residents of Dieveniškės have repeatedly organized protests and declared that they are opposed to the accommodation of migrants on the territory of the city, as the place where the migrants will be accommodated is located a couple of dozen meters from the operational school .
