Biden warns of another planned terrorist attack in Kabul

The BBC recalls that the United States continues to evacuate Afghanistan after a deadly explosion that killed about 170 people on Thursday.

The attack killed 13 US soldiers and wounded more. The last British plane carrying Afghan civilians left Kabul airport on Saturday.

ISIS-K, a terror group operating in Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for Thursday’s attack. The US military announced on Friday that it had staged a drone strike against him.

“The drone struck in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan. Preliminary data shows that we killed the target,” said Captain Bill Urban, spokesman for the US General Staff.

Biden emphasized that this was not the last attack by the United States against the ISIS-K group.

“We will continue to persecute everyone involved in this nasty attack and make them pay,” he said in a statement Saturday.

Previously, Pentagon officials said 6,800 people had flown from Afghanistan last day, raising the total number of airlifts evacuated by more than 117,000 American citizens and Afghan allies.
