Biden: a blow to Syria is a warning to Iran

The journalists asked Biden, who is visiting Texas, what message he wanted to send to Iran. The president responded that the country cannot act with impunity and must act with caution.

Syria and Iran have condemned the US coup. Damascus warns that this is a bad sign from the new American administration. And Tehran fears it will further destabilize the region.

Russia has also blamed the raid, and the country’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia would like to know what the US strategic goals are in Syria.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the United States had notified Moscow of an impending coup 4-5 minutes earlier.

According to him, two F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets dropped 7 bombs on militant positions in eastern Syria on Thursday, from where missiles are believed to have been fired at US troops in Iraq.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Biden administration sought to send a clear message, especially to Iran, that the United States will defend its people, its partners and its interests. He hopes that Iran has understood this message clearly.
