After a long-term investigation by officials, after intensive and thorough work, people who came to Lithuania related to the underground drug market were identified.

After identifying the signs of a criminal offense, the Vilnius Criminal Police Organized Crime Investigation Board launched a pre-trial investigation in accordance with article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 3 d. During the investigation, after recording data on serious and very serious crimes, the perpetrators, and a series of actions, board officials detained them in one of the Capital’s districts.

After a search of the detainees’ cars, one of them found two kilograms of the drug carfentanil, carefully packaged in boxes of children’s food. The retail value of this cargo on the illegal market is estimated to be around € 120,000.

In this way, forensic scientists from Vilnius managed to prevent this drug from entering the market in Lithuania.

The issue of the most serious pre-trial detention will be addressed in the near future.

The pre-trial investigation is controlled and coordinated by prosecutors from the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania provides for 10 to 15 years’ imprisonment for the specified criminal offenses, according to a press release issued by the Vilnius County Police.
