According to Belstat.eu, the Ministry of Energy states that the planned tests are being carried out and that “everything is as planned”.

“There is a need to further adjust the operation of the vapor absorbent covers,” the ministry said.

Earlier, the portal ecohome-ngo.ny announced a possible accident in the backup cooling system of the first nuclear power plant in Belarus.

“At the end of the hydraulic tests, a large-scale accident occurred at the nuclear power plant. The opening of the liquid at the end of the tests caused damage to the tank of the emergency cooling system of the first reactor due to the non-opening valve ”, writes the portal in a statement published by the Belarusian anti-nuclear company that cooperates on security issues in Belarus.

The Energy Ministry does not directly deny this information, but does not confirm it.

“The tests will continue according to the stage works schedule. Now the first power unit is connected to the grid, “says the report.

VATESI: Lithuania has not received any response from Minsk regarding the cooling system of the Astrava nuclear power plant

According to BNS, Lithuania has not received a response from Minsk on the status of the emergency cooling system at the Astrava Nuclear Power Plant (CN) following a possible incident. According to Minsk, there were no special or unusual events.

The State Atomic Energy Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) has announced that it intends to approach the Belarus Ministry of Emergencies again in the near future, asking for information on all unusual events, including those that may cause public concern.

On Tuesday, VATESI requested information from the Belarusian authorities about a possible failure of the cooling system of the standby reactor of the first Astrava nuclear power plant.

According to VATESI, the Belarusian Ministry indicated that there were no events during the refueling that could be classified as special or unusual. The same response was received by the Belarusian non-governmental organization Ekodom, which reported a possible incident.

The portal ecohome-ngo.by (Ekodom) reported that a serious accident had occurred during the hydraulic tests of the first reactor, according to a statement from the Belarusian anti-nuclear campaign, which seriously damaged the tank of the emergency cooling system, which was is repairing.

This is not the first incident recently at the Astravo nuclear power plant. On November 8, several voltage transformers exploded and the turbine of the first reactor was turned off in a power plant that was already in operation and generating electricity, according to the country’s media. The Belarusian Ministry of Energy later confirmed that the transformers had been replaced.
