Belarusian Border Guards Conceal Evidence of Illegal Migration: Unprecedented Behavior of Officials Filmed

This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Seimas Defense and National Security Committee (NSGC) on Monday.

General Rustam Liubayev, commander of the SBGS, who participated in it, noted that communication with officials of the Belarusian Borders Committee was difficult, according to him.

“If on the 21st we still had any hope that maybe we could at least establish working contacts, but after all the political events we see that we probably won’t be able to do that.”

“Belarusian border guards do not react to our incidents: when we provide strong evidence and arguments about border violations, we do not acknowledge the fact of the violation, we constantly demand additional evidence, and when we provide it, we refuse to admit the fact itself.” Liubayev said.

He showed the committee members a video of the Belarusian border guards trying to hide the fact of the border violation. The SBGS images were also shared with Delphi.

“Where a group of illegal immigrants was detained, the Belarusian border guards appeared shortly after the rape, who made up for it by hiding the fact. When the border representative reported the violation of the border and asked to come to establish the fact, the Belarusian colleagues refused to do so and did not acknowledge the fact, ”the border commander commented.

According to him, most of the rapes take place on the Dieveniškės circuit.

“A total of 52 Iraqis and 20 Iranians have been detained there to date. Also Syrian and Turkish citizens,” Liubayev told the meeting.

There are also many violations in the section of the Tverečius firewall. There, 41 Iraqi citizens were detained.

The SBGS commander noted that Poland faces a similar number of illegal immigrants and Latvians still do not have such problems.

Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė, who participated in the meeting, stressed that alongside Lithuania we have an unpredictable neighbor: the Lukashenko regime.

“We have been observing this trend of illegal immigrants in Lithuania for some time. If we compare the figures as they are now, this year the number of illegal immigrants coming from Belarus who cross the border illegally, we have 189. Those figures are double if we compare them with last year, for the whole period of the year “during the meeting said the Interior Minister.

According to her, this is determined by geopolitical reasons, but, as A. Bilotaitė emphasized, Belarusian border officials also contribute to the transport of illegal immigrants across countries’ borders.

“From what we see and what we try to understand in the meetings, it is clear that the officials on that side can cooperate and participate in this organized flow of illegal migrants,” said A. Bilotaitė.

The minister pointed out that four times a week there are flights from Istanbul and Baghdad to Minsk, from where these people later move to Lithuania.
