“Temporarily suspend the crossing of the state border of the Republic of Belarus for citizens of the Republic of Belarus and foreigners who have a permanent or temporary residence permit on the territory of the Republic of Belarus when leaving the Republic of Belarus” Said a decree of the Council of Ministers.
The decree deals with automobile border crossings, simplified border crossings, as well as border crossings at railway stations and river ports.
Exit may be granted “by decision of the chairman of the State Border Committee or an official authorized by him in exceptional cases related to extraordinary circumstances and in order to safeguard the national interests of Belarus”.
The decree lists the people who have been prohibited from going out. These include diplomats, international cargo drivers, people leaving due to a serious illness or the death of a close relative, Belarusian citizens with a residence permit abroad and heading for a permanent place of residence.
The exit restrictions will take effect 10 days after the official publication of the decree.
On November 1, Belarus temporarily suspended the entry of foreigners and stateless persons into its territory.
