R. Karbauskis “Delfi” admitted that V. Čmilytė-Nielsen had not confirmed on Friday that he would name Aušrinė Norkienė proposed by LVŽS as his substitute.

For their part, the “workers” of the Seimas seem to agree that there was no prior agreement on A. Mazuronis, but they half-mention that for some time a possible candidate of this political force for the vice-presidents of the Seimas has been discussed.

Čmilytė-Nielsen “peasants” did not receive approval

R. Karbauskis himself confirms that the leaders of the three opposition factions – the Labor Party, the LVŽS and the Social Democrats – met with V. Čmilyte-NIelsen on Friday, before the start of the Seimas session.

R. Karbauskis stated that during the meeting he still did not know that “the Labor Party had already agreed with the rulers.”

According to the Seimas member, he has already learned that A. Mazuronis will be nominated for the vice-presidents of Seimas “from Tuesday.”

And I didn’t think in any way that they were just telling us. And why do it? It will still be clear in a day or two. I just had to say. It is true that R. Karbauskis himself admitted that V. Čmilytė-Nielsen had not assured him that he would indeed appoint a candidate from LVŽS.

When asked how the candidate for president of the Seimas then reacted when the “peasants” offered A. Norkienė, if at least an oral agreement had been reached, R. Karbauskis replied:

We wanted that meeting to inform us that there would be no such situation that if she became the Speaker of the Seimas, she would not know it. And we took out insurance. Behind the scenes, it seemed that Norkienė was not suitable

Mindaugas Puidokas, a member of the Labor Party faction, told Delfi that, to his knowledge, there was no separate agreement on A. Mazuronis.

“From what I attended the group meeting, there was no separate agreement. At first, the faction agreed that if we have the opportunity to nominate our candidate for Vice Presidents of the Seimas in accordance with the agreement of the opposition parties, then Who will that candidate be? According to the leader of LVŽS, the faction unanimously decided to nominate A. Norkienė for this position.

The politician said that apart from A. Norkienė, the LVŽS faction did not intend to present any other proposal.

R. Karbauskis said that he had no doubt that his candidate would not be nominated on Tuesday and therefore the LVŽS “will certainly apply to the Constitutional Court.”

On Monday, the president of the Seimas, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, proposed to the largest faction of “peasants” in the opposition to find another candidate for vice-presidents of Parliament.
