Behind the criticism is the response of the Presidency: The government certainly should not be approved by the conveyor belt

“The main objective is to complete all this stage as soon as possible, but at the same time the president pays a lot of attention to deepen and communicate with all the candidates his priorities and his activities. After completing this stage, he will certainly make decisions, ”S. Krėpšta told LRT radio.

“The government really shouldn’t be attached to the conveyor belt or certain speed records. That would be irresponsible, “he said in response to public criticism from observers.
According to S. Krėpšta, compared to the practice of previous presidents, it cannot be said that G. Nausėda was delayed.

“Previous presidents approved the cabinets twice on December 7 and once on December 4. Today is December 3 and today the president closes all meetings,” said the advisor.

“One aspect that makes the ministerial approval process different from previous terms in this case is that the initial list of ministers was made public quite early. This is good because the public has had more time to get to know the candidates, their strengths and weaknesses. On the other hand, without the Prime Minister, only one of the candidates has experience working in the Government and some candidates were not well known, ”explained S. Krėpšta.

Finally, S. Krėpšta made it clear that the President is unlikely to change his mind about candidates who were found to be unfit for ministerial positions during the meetings.

“The president has already pointed out that some of the candidates, in the president’s opinion, are not suitable for this position. He has also appointed him in public, ”said the adviser, who was asked what was the probability that G. Nausėda would approve the full list of candidates submitted by I. Šimonytė.
