The final of the renewed Spanish championship in Valencia, marked by impressive drama, ended with the victory of Vitoria Baskonia, represented by Tadas Sedekerski.
Duškas Ivanovičius students in changing matches 69:67 (17:16, 16:23, 18:12, 18:16) broke Barcelona and became Spanish champions after a 10-year hiatus.
A minute and a half later, Achille Polonara covered the triple and overtook Baskonia (67:64), but the Catalans did not give up and after Pierre Oriola’s penalty kicks the result was the same again: 67:67.
Baskonia had 10 seconds to make a decisive attack, and Luca Vildoza became the hero of the match, scoring a double point below the basket (69:67) after a great pass from Polonara.
The last second launched by Cory Higgins, the triple did not reach the goal and the Basques began to dance the dance of victory.
At the end of the second half, Barça had an 8-point advantage (37:29), but the Basques returned to the fight and had eight and a half minutes to go: 58:54.
At the end of the game, the Catalans played without Nikola Mirotich, who won a fifth foul after 5 minutes of play.
Sedekerskis registered for the match, but did not appear on the parquet.
Vildoza, who was the most productive winner, scored 17 points (3/5 double, 2/5 trit., 5/5 penalty) and scored 20 utility points. The Argentine was best assisted by Tengike Šengelija and Ilimane Diopas, who scored 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Thomas Heurtel’s great performance did not save the Svetislavas Pešičius students from failure: 21 points (6/8 double, 2/3 trit., 3/3 penalty), 5 assists and 25 utility points.

Barcelona last won the Spanish championship in 2014.
