“It just came to our notice then. I’ll say one essential thing: I’m a Samogitian, and Samogitians generally don’t get angry or distracted for no reason. If you do, measure and reflect many times.
If there is already a way out, then it should have some motives and be very strong. So far, there really are no solutions, ”says R. Baškienė.
In the interview, R. Baškienė talks about the withdrawal of Ramūnas Karbauskis from the peasant faction in the Seimas, about the future of the faction, about the influx of S. Skvernelis and the position of vice president of the Seimas, who should go to the peasants .
There have been rumors that he is considering whether to stay in the peasant group or to leave.
There is an ongoing debate and that is natural. There are differences of opinion in the group, we are debating and looking for the best solutions. There is no solution for today, and when it is, we will certainly report it and give reasons.
Today there was a discussion about how the faction will continue to work after R. Karbauskis leaves. I think it will work differently. I hope there is definitely more democracy and communication.
And now we are planning future work on the budget we are considering and others. For me work has always been the most important thing, not lyrics or emotions. In the group, we talked very kindly about future work and other activities within the group.
I had to work in a mixed group of members of the Seimas. Was past end when we were three peasants. I was also a peasant in the Seimas. The main thing is that I have been a member of the Peasant Party since ancient times. I rebuilt that party in 1994 and joined in 1996.
Deciding too fast and throwing is not my Samogitian style. Therefore, I am not distracted anywhere and now. We look for solutions and compromises. If there is a decision to be made, time will tell, but there is certainly nothing like it today.
Some may see these discussions and conversations as a single expression, but I see it as a desire to speak more in the group, to say the pros and cons. Many new people have joined the group so that we can continue to work rationally.
The Peasant Group must be chaired by the Ethics and Procedures Commission. Did you follow this post?
The Ethics and Procedures Commission, although the statute provides a completely different rule, that the opposition nominates representatives of the position, and the position elects other people from the opposition representatives, from those factions within the established quota. The fee is two.
Yes, he decided to vote. There was a vote and we discussed, as did other commissions and committees. I’m glad to work for the same social affairs committee.
In fact, I don’t mean anything. I can work anywhere and in any job with experience in four terms.
Regarding the Ethics and Procedures Committee, I said that I am the person who no longer needs to interpret the Statute. I presided over the sessions as Vice President of the Seimas, which I already know, and I know the rules of the Statute well and I have offered myself as a candidate for the Ethics and Procedures Commission, knowing that my experience can be useful.
R. Karbauskis left the faction at Seimas. There were rumors that the faction could weaken. What you think?
I think it will be different now. Will Norkienė will justify such leadership, time will tell, if she, as an old woman, perhaps will reveal her abilities. It is not just a matter of recording how and who votes, but simply leading a group: being a leader, going to the rostrum and speaking on behalf of the group. I think everything will work out.
Time will tell how to proceed. We are looking forward to Saulius Skvernelis coming to the entire faction.
I have repeatedly made many good observations and work with S. Skvernelis. I see him as a great leader, as a person who works in a very rational way, listens to opinions and is able to concentrate and organize.
We have to wait for that stage. I think the most important thing is to wait for the whole faction to start working, when S. Skvernelis, former ministers Aurelijus Veryga, Linas Kukuraitis or Kęstutis Mažeika join. We will see how we work differently. Hope we have good communication and good work results.
Could Skvernel be the new leader of the group?
I can only say that I have great faith and trust in this person.
In the peasant faction, a secret vote was held on the candidate for the post of vice president of the Seimas, who will be presented again by the peasants. Aušrinė Norkienė will probably not perform a second time, what did the faction decide?
The group agreed not to publish that vote. You know that at the beginning I took the surname and did not run against A. Norkienė.
At that time, I remembered that a faction cannot impose a specific person, because according to the Statute, the deputies of the Seimas are appointed by the President of the Seimas after consulting with the factions.
Ms. Norkiene was unlucky and the majority of the votes were not in her favor. There were not enough votes to become vice president of the Seimas. Now the peasants have no representative.
It would be strange if the same person (Norkienė – aut. Past) were to run again. In Seimas practice, this was the case once, but a second time generally the same person does not go.
The Seimas have already expressed their opinion; that is why a person must be voted on again if someone is stubborn and wants to submit again.
The statute stipulates that the opposition must have at least two representatives. Today, the opposition has two: Mazuronis and Sabatauskas. In good faith, to achieve harmony, as suggested by the president of the Seimas, the seventh place could be offered to the peasants; It would be great if they found solutions and the president of the Seimas was suitable for that candidacy. Apparently, the president of the Seimas will present that candidacy. My last name is not here.
