In an indifferent story between Barcelona and Thomas Heurtel, the club spoke.
The Catalan team issued an official statement outlining its position, beginning with negotiations on the termination of the contract and ending with the basketball player’s legacy in Istanbul.
Barcelona Club report on Heurtel:
1. On Sunday, the team played with Bovona Joventut and the player decided not to play to protect himself from possible injury before the contract was terminated.
2. On Monday, the club allowed a player who was not registered for the game against Istanbul’s Anadolu Efes to travel to Turkey to solve problems for his future career, according to Heurtel representatives.
3. On Tuesday, the player asked the club for permission to work alongside the team and at the same time address future issues.
4. Negotiations on the termination of the contract were suspended Tuesday afternoon, but it was agreed to continue talking. Due to broken negotiations and the fact that the player did not attend the Istanbul match according to the rules, it was decided that he would not return to Barcelona with the team. The player was not left to fend for himself and they took care of him: they gave him a hotel for the night, he bought a ticket for a scheduled flight and all the necessary documents were arranged so that he could return to Barcelona the next day.
5. Finally, the club wants to announce that Thomas Heurtel continues to belong to Barcelona and that his future will be decided in the coming days.
We remind you that Barcelona left Heurtel in Istanbul after learning that the basketball player was trying to deceive them and go not to Fenerbahce, but to the camp of his mortal rival, Real Madrid.
This situation is already being investigated by the Euroleague players ‘association, and support for Heurtel, who is preparing to take legal action against the club, has already been expressed by the Spanish players’ associations and the ACB.
