Authors’ songs sound illegally in the “Great March for the Defense of the Family”: LATGA warns

It is estimated that more than 7,000 participants participated in the protest: a municipal permit was issued. Among them were illustrious figures such as the television presenter Kristupas Krivickas or the group “Polarized Glass”.

The controversial protest does not appear to have gone without unpleasant incidents.

On the eve of the “Great March for the Defense of the Family”, the copyright associations LATGA and AGATA warned the organizers that musical works are used in the events without the consent of their authors. However, this was not a reason for the organizers: the works continued to be heard at the protest event.

On Saturday morning, singer Raminta Naujanytė-Bjelle was one of the first to express her outrage on the social network account for the work used without her consent.

“It just came to our attention then. Good morning. I try again to be heard by the organizers.

If the formal appeal does not work, I write to you here. I do not agree, I do not allow and I do not want my author’s works to be heard in the family defense march and in the publicity campaign for this event. No no and again I will NOT let it go. Image and sound in Šiauliai arena, a moment of the live broadcast (I don’t know who filmed this live, but thanks for the information) “, thought R.Naujanytė-Bjelle

The organizer of the event Justinas Antanaitis shared an entry on her social network account, highlighting the works that could be used illegally there.

“Yesterday the Vytautas Kernagis Foundation requested the use of songs in today’s” campaign “, some interpreters also stated that they do not allow the use of their songs in this” campaign “.

And I got a video with a lot of songs and “someone” performing them.

So I wonder if the creators of the performers gave permission for their works to be re-sung and played here.

It is also interesting if the participants of the “campaign” signed agreements on the use and execution of public works with the LATGA Association and the Agata Association? ”The man wrote on Facebook.

The copyright protection association LATGA also reacted to this.

“The situation regarding the use of works in the” Great March for the Defense of the Family “is as follows: the organizers still do not have a LATGA license for public use of works in the event, so if any work of the LATGA repertoire, it will be illegal.

As for other events, such as “escorts” to march in various cities of the country, permission was not obtained to use the repertoire of the authors we represent. We are currently collecting material on what works sounded in them.

We recently sent another letter to the organizers of today’s event in Vingis Park, urging them to purchase a license, adding a list of authors who did not agree to have their works played at the event.

Thanks to all authors who have written to us, please do not send your disclaimers regarding the use of the works to others. Our specialists will participate in the event and register the works that will be reproduced during it. If we register violations, we will definitely report it, ”LATGA shared on the social network account.
