In the Seimas session on Tuesday, the conclusions of the factions regarding the candidate for prime minister are heard first, starting with the largest and ending with the smallest.

After that, a discussion takes place, at the end of which the candidate is given the floor (up to 20 minutes), as well as the opportunity to answer questions from the Seimas members again (up to 30 minutes).

When the applicant has finished answering the questions, a vote is taken to approve the candidacy presented by the Prime Minister.

In accordance with the Statute of the Seimas, the President of the Republic has the right to withdraw the candidacy presented at any time before the start of the vote on its approval.

The Prime Minister must present to the Seimas the Government formed by him and approved by the President of the Republic and submit the program of this Government for consideration no later than 15 days after his appointment.

Delphi recalls that on the first day of the new session of the Seimas, Andrius Mazuronis, representative of the Labor Party, was confirmed as the first vice president of V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.
