Members of the Seimas propose adjusting the government’s plans to help parents who are advised not to take their children to kindergartens and job seekers who have lost their jobs just before quarantine.

According to Linas Kukuraitis, taking into account that the quarantine announced by the Government in November has significantly reduced employment opportunities, registered unemployment exceeds 16% and the fact that the Government proposes to significantly reduce the number of beneficiaries of search benefits job.

The members of the Seimas propose to maintain the intention of the new Government to reduce the beneficiaries of the benefits of search of work, but to expand the circle of beneficiaries of the benefits of search of work to include the people who lost their work during the year previous to quarantine or emergency change.

At the same time, it is proposed to grant unemployment benefit to those who are entitled to social insurance benefit for unemployment and extend the period of payment of the benefit until quarantine and emergency, instead of until the end of one of them.

According to T. Tomilinas, the current difficult situation regarding the management of the pandemic should be taken into account, when the Government recommended participating in preschool and preschool education programs only for those children whose parents do not have the opportunity to work remotely.

“We are proposing to pay sickness benefit to parents who follow the recommendation because their current situation is analogous to what it was during the spring quarantine, when educational institutions were closed,” says Tomilinas.
