At the foot of John’s Hill is a modern fountain: it invites you to hurry up to admire

“The city has never had a fountain, as it is now installed in the Bastion complex. We hope that it will not only decorate the new rest and leisure space, revive on a hot summer day, but also become a favorite place for Citizen meetings or romantic dates, especially since there is a lot of space nearby for other activities or just to walk, ”said the Mayor of Klaipėda, Vytautas Grubliauskas.

In the Old Town of Klaipeda, renovation works on the Bastion Complex are being completed. Better known to many as John Hill, the venue has created attractive event spaces, new recreation areas and active leisure. The space on the side of the Culture Factory has fundamentally changed: there is an outdoor fitness area, two play areas for children, a play area with terraces, a grandstand for open-air events for spectators and a fountain in the pavement.

Although it has been promised that it will light up in the spring, citizens who come to stroll here will be able to admire the waterfalls here tonight. It is true that the source will work in pilot mode, at set intervals, so that the most patient or those who are lucky enough to arrive on time will be able to see it. The new pavement source was tested for the first time this summer, via Jonines, the municipality said in a statement.

“This fountain is probably the most modern in Klaipeda. The water pressure of the individual nozzles is regulated here, thanks to which it is possible to change the height of the water jets, the lights, the possibility of ‘jumping’ the fountains to the rhythm of the music, “said Giedrius Mikutis, Head of Territorial Maintenance Administration at UAB Ekoservice Klaipėda.

Meanwhile, the contractor’s representative told about the subtleties of the fountain: the fountain pipes hidden underground are inclined, so there is no fear that the water left in them will freeze; the water will flow into the nets that will reach the water at the foot of John Hill and return to the source. It will be possible to control the source remotely: it requires the Internet and a special application, and so on.
It is planned to enjoy the fountain this year until natural conditions permit. It is expected that this year it will be possible to do so for at least the next two weeks. The fountain will then be “put to sleep” until the start of the new season and will launch alongside other fountains in the city. Normally, the fountains in the port city are lit for Mother’s Day.
