SBGS representatives shared a video of the arrest of three illegal immigrants from the Belarusian border posing as Iraqi citizens.
It was recorded that they initially crossed the protective fence on the Belarusian side, crossed the border line and crossed the protective fence installed on the territory of Lithuania.
Here they were already waiting for the hurried border guards.
Several more people who had been together did not cross the fence in Belarus and returned to the depths of this country.
According to SBGS officials, 1,098 illegal immigrants from Belarus attempted to enter Lithuania this year (the numbers continue to rise). That number is almost 12 and a half times higher than in 2020. Last year, 81 of these foreigners were detained at the border with Lithuania. 2019 46 illegal immigrants were caught by border guards in 2018; – 104, 2017 – 72.
Among those detained at the border with Belarus this year are mostly Iraqi nationals or foreigners who have come forward. A large part of the detainees seek to enter Western European countries through Lithuania.
