“On average, almost 14 schools would be needed. But this plan includes priority areas where schools are needed, which we have assessed. As part of the great reform, there is a proposal to increase the number of 117 existing schools to 125,” he said in a council meeting this week.

According to her, new schools will appear in Pašilaičiai, Pilaitė, Verkiai, Naujoji Vilnia.

Vilnius Mayor Remigijus Šimašius says that when planning the construction and opening of new schools, help from the Government will be sought.

“We clearly need eight additional schools. Eight schools will not come out of the sky, they will not fall alone and we will have to take it very seriously and do it together with the Government, ”said R. Šimašius.

According to him, eight schools are the “minimum” that would guarantee education as the number of students increases.
