According to him, E. Misiūnas may have come to the presidency at the wrong time, when the public was publicly told that L. Linkevičius and R. Karoblis must be “politically cold.”

In the opinion of the vice president of the Seimas, the attempts to enshrine the “political cooling” in the laws of the Seimas would not be clear.

The politician also stressed that such changes in the law would have negative consequences.

Following public discussions on the head of state’s decision, the presidential team initially said it was considering whether to enshrine “political cooling” in law. It is true that President G. Nausėda himself said that there is no such need.

Mečys Laurinkus, former director of the State Security Department (SSD), did not see the possibility of changing the laws in this situation.
