The new aspirations are accompanied by a new initiative: the first Dakar relics auction is being organized in Lithuania, with the help of which Dakar fans will be able to contribute to the purchase of a new team car.
The car of the legendary history is obsolete
In 2018, Antanas Juknevičius was recognized as a Dakar Rally legend and brought the best result of his compatriots to Lithuania. Due to such a successful performance, the Dakar legend received start number 315 in 2019, the highest of all Lithuanian car teams in Dakar that year. This starting position was crowned by one of the most challenging and dramatic Dakaristas recently held in South America. This is evidenced by the team’s adventures recorded in history.
Let’s start with the flight from the dune that ended in turbulence, the next day I lived in the sand dunes of hell, where a couple of kilometers from station is worth a heating engine. Let’s continue with the nocturnal wanderings through the deserts accompanied by blind darkness, exploding tires carrying the car’s spoiler and various body parts. Add to that the winning battle against the time when Joint Forces 6 mechanics restored the car to technical condition overnight and redesigned the engine in search of the missing engine head valve cover that had been fallen into the engine. And finally, in the last seconds before finishing the registration for the speed section, we managed to reach the judges’ control with the car started and return to the fight in Dakar.
Antanas Juknevičius, who lives by the principle of “the harder the better for us”, admits that the former Overdrive team, which has reached the ceiling of its possibilities, can no longer offer competitiveness to the team. To improve the result, you need a new car that generates more power, is lighter, faster and has a better balance.
The opportunity is offered to contribute to the purchase of a car
KREDA team leader Antanas Juknevičius knows that he has a large community of fans behind him, who join the Dakar starting line every year together with the crew. Inviting his loyal colleagues to contribute to the budget for the purchase of a new car, Antanas Juknevičius is organizing the first Dakar auction in Lithuania, where participants will be offered the purchase of Dakar Rally relics, testimony to their own adventure stories .
These are the doors of a car that survived the legendary 2019 drama, the steering wheel of a car that withstood five Dakar tests and the windshield that reached the ninth section of 2021 in the Dakar. Personalized wishes and team autographs will reach all fans who have purchased the relics sold at auction. The auction is advertised on the Facebook account of the Antanas Juknevičius social network.
And that is just the beginning. With the start of the auction, Dakar fans will also be able to purchase the wheels they suffered on the tracks of the 2021 Dakar Rally, marked with personalized wishes and autographs from the team’s team. The number of such wheels, which was successfully salvaged and transported with equipment to Lithuania, is limited. The KREDA team will be able to offer only 3 unique Dakar souvenirs to Dakar fans.
These relics from the Dakar Rally will be available in the Antanas Juknevičius team e-shop, where anyone who wishes to contribute to the purchase of the car for the Dakar in 2022 will also be able to purchase the team paraphernalia. The combined strength of the Dakar fans and team aims to join the Dakar 2022 starting line with a competitive car that enables an equal fight for the top positions.
The leader of the KREDA team, Antanas Juknevičius, is the most experienced Lithuanian rider, who in 2021 won his 12th Dakar. Sandy and desert in keeping with his element, the driver named Dakar Punk has tripled the best result of the Baltics in the car category. In 2018, Antanas Juknevičius was officially recognized as a Dakar Rally legend by the organizers.
