According to foreign media reports, the company’s vehicles were inspected and the inspectors began to inspect the working conditions and wages paid to the drivers, as well as possible violations of the company’s environmental requirements.

A total of 25 employees were interviewed, from countries such as Belarus, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, writes vrt.be. According to this portal, the confiscation of 18 company trucks was allowed due to labor law violations, inadequate accommodation.

“The police have been closely monitoring the company for some time. It operates with registered vehicles in Lithuania, Poland and Estonia,” local media reported.

No charges have been received so far

Delfi contacted Odeta Maskvytyte, an attorney representing Nostrad. She said the entire investigation began with a complaint from neighbors about excessive tug noise. After that, he said, working conditions inspectors and even environmentalists joined the investigation.

“The investigation was carried out by several institutions, a large team: the police, the social inspectorate, the working conditions of the population and the protection of the environment. The surveys were carried out on Saturday and the investigation is still ongoing, and we do not yet have any findings, charges or written minutes where we can make claims or accusations about possible violations. The trucks themselves have been detained as collateral to compensate for possible financial damages, but they must be released for deposit, “said O. Maskvytytė.

However, according to the lawyer, such inspections are not exceptional in Belgium.

“We were surprised by such a large inspection, but we spoke to Belgian lawyers, saying it is not unusual,” he said.

According to O. Maskvytytė, all employees received accommodation after the interviews and the opportunity to return home.

“The polls lasted long enough on Saturday, the night had just ended. With company funds, we rented a hotel for employees, bought tickets, and let those who wanted to work, and those who wanted to work, sit in others. trucks, “says O. Maskvytytė.

Local media also reported that the company was ordered to pay € 40,000 for violations found in truck registration equipment, speed limiters, and vehicle inspection documents. However, O. Maskvytytė clarified that this fine is not related to the current investigation.

“No amounts have been paid so far. No fines or charges have been imposed, no charges have been filed, as we are convinced that there should be no major infractions as we organize the work in accordance with the law. We have received that fine before in Belgium, to complete the tachograph inspection, it is not related, “said the lawyer.

According to data published by Sodra, in May the company, which was 28 years old, had 1,391 employees and an average salary of about 885 euros.

Delfi recalls that this is no longer the first story about trucks from Lithuanian companies confiscated in Belgium. Earlier, a story was described in which Belgian officers detained 13 Arijus trucks in February and 15 Gretvėja trucks in late March.
