We temporarily suspended the central kitchen so that all staff could explore in silence. We strive to make the situation completely clear and to make employees who return to work later feel completely safe, “says Giedrius Bandzevičius, General Manager of Rimi Lietuva. A total of 126 employees work at this Rimi production unit.
On Tuesday, after receiving the news about the third employee of Rimi’s production unit who had contracted a coronavirus infection, work on the central kitchen in Žirmūnai was suspended. Earlier on Friday, when the first coronavirus case in this unit became apparent, its facilities were completely disinfected. The Rimi Mall, which is also located there, was disinfected Friday through Saturday night. The first three employees with coronavirus at work, in Rimini’s central kitchen, last visited on May 8 and the fourth on May 10.
The boss of Rimi Lietuva emphasized that the employees of the production units do not work and have no close contact with the store employees or customers, and that there is no data that the coronavirus can spread or be transmitted through food.
