This weekend SpaceX made history when two American astronauts flew to the International Space Station. How it was all and what will happen next: we have already described it in detail here.
Following the success of such a private company, SpaceX and NASA, experts quickly said the news did not bode well for the Russian space agency Roskosmos.
Its boss, Dmitry Rogozin, congratulated NASA and SpaceX briefly and without much emotion on this success, but many experts agree that Russia is not really happy with that.
If, after almost 10 years and once again, American astronauts begin to fly into space from US territory, Roscosmos will lose a great deal of money. And it is very likely that SpaceX will take over this Roskosma feature.
How did Rogozin laugh at the United States and what did Elon say now?
Let’s go back to 2014. For three years, the United States has closed the Shuttle program and Americans only fly from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan with the Soyuz spacecraft.
All the letters on the Russian side and Roskosma’s head, Rogozin, said sarcastically about the ability of the US. USA Of taking astronauts into space on their own, and they said, “The US can also send astronauts to TKS and use a trampoline.”
This bitter pill had to complain in the United States until this weekend, when the Crew Dragon capsule flew to TKS and landed with two American astronauts.
Elonas Muskas did not hide his joy and said very briefly and clearly: “the trampoline works”.
It is true that Roskosmos welcomed SpaceX, although with great caution. “We really don’t understand the hysteria caused by the launch of the Crew Dragon,” said spokesman Vladimir Ustimenko, adding that “something that should have happened a long time ago has happened.”
Rogozin’s allegations of dishonesty and Elon’s response
Long before the Crew Dragon’s flight, in April this year, Rogozin accused SpaceX of dishonestly reducing the cost of the flight.
“Instead of fair competition in the space flight market, they are pressuring us and taking advantage of price dumping with impunity,” Rogozin wrote.
Rogozin also added that his space agency is working to “reduce the cost of launching spacecraft by 30 percent. And thus increase our share of international markets.”
Elon Musko’s answer to why SpaceX can reduce space flight prices so clearly was very specific:
SpaceX missiles are 80 percent. reusable, your [Roskosmos] – 0 percent. That’s the real problem. “
