In the dance studio, after a mainly material dispute arose, A. Candelis did not succeed and the prosecution evaluated his violent actions with two articles of the Penal Code.
Judge Inga Štuopienė, who examined the criminal case, announced the indictment on Tuesday afternoon. It is true that the court confirmed only part of the charges.
According to the case, A. Candelis hit the girl in the face with the palm of his hand, grabbed her hands, grabbed her by the neck and strangled her, telling her that she would drown. The girl was released, but soon the attacker again grabbed her hand by the neck, pushed her against the wall and hit her head and ear several times.
As the dancer Victoria, who suffered during the conflict in Andrius Kandelis’s studio in August 2019, said in court: “I have never seen such aggressive eyes in Kandel’s life.”
At the time, the accused himself expected both legal and moral justification. “This is great nonsense, which I think will end very soon,” Candel said, categorically rejecting all the charges against her.
The dancer has been convicted of violence but acquitted of threatening to kill a young woman. According to the judge, the horrible deadly threats did sound, but these were only the words of the angry A. Candel, in which he wanted to express a negative attitude towards the victim, but the man did not really want or plan to take his life.
Sentence: One year imprisonment restriction. A. Kandelis was also ordered to work 120 hours free of charge in a social services institution (for example, to care for grandparents), as well as to participate in compulsory programs that change violent behavior. In addition, the court awarded the young woman, who turned out to be a victim, 1,100 euros for non-pecuniary damage and 1,200 euros for legal representation expenses.
The convict categorically disagrees with the conviction: he promises to appeal the verdict, which has not yet entered into force, to the Vilnius Regional Court of a higher instance within 20 days.
