Telia also introduced the eSIM service in Lithuania. As with competitors, Telia’s eSIM service will allow you to use the same number on your smartphone as on your phone. It will only work with Samsung devices for now.

But in the near future, the company promises to offer third-party devices with eSIM.

“People already have a hard time imagining life without a phone and are even afraid to leave home without a smart pocket. However, the eSIM with smartwatch service will allow you to take over most of the phone’s functions. “Telia customers with Samsung smartwatches can request eSIM by simply connecting the watch to their phone and logging into the Telia service self-service through the Galaxy Wearable app,” said Aurimas Karnejev, Telia Equipment Manager.

He adds that Telia’s eSIM service will cost 5.9 Eur per month and will work with VoLTE (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology.

A representative survey of Lithuanians conducted by the KOG Institut on behalf of Telia shows that only 2% of people currently use the eSIM service for a smartwatch, but up to a third of those surveyed said they would like to use it.

In general, 3 out of 10 respondents know eSIM and the second has heard of its name. The service is best known to young people between the ages of 24 and 35, survey participants, and those who already own a smartwatch.
