As reported by the STT on Friday, complaints of trafficking and bribery were also made to three other individuals, people were interviewed, their workplaces and homes were searched, and documents relevant to the investigation were seized.

Pre-trial detention measures for suspects are written promises not to leave and not to communicate with identified persons.

According to the Service, data on possible criminal acts related to corruption committed by individuals in connection with land use change issues were obtained during a pre-trial investigation related to corruption suspect Raimundas Jurgaitis from the Šiauliai Regional Court.

Povilas Poderskis, director of the municipal administration, confirmed to BNS that the searches in the Detailed Planning Branch were carried out on Monday, the same day that one of the specialists of the subdivision was accused of corruption.

“A specialist has been accused (…) of what I cannot reveal and, in fact, I do not know, because at that time I was recruiting VASA executives and I did not know about this material and I have not yet sent it to us in writing” said P. Podersky on Friday.

“I understand that there is a larger case where a municipal employee is one of many people. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will provide all the information, but we cannot reveal everything, “he said.

According to the director of the administration, after learning of the suspicions this week, a specialist who had been working in the municipality for several years was immediately removed from his position.

“They remove him from his post. If accusations are made, the official must be removed from his post, that’s the order,” said P. Poderskis.

Judge R. Jurgaitis is suspected of abuse of power and bribery, and was removed from office in mid-August. In the investigation, the allegations were made to four more natural persons.

According to law enforcement agencies, data on possible criminal actions by a judge was obtained by investigating possible corrupt activities: attempts by natural persons using their acquaintances and other likely influence to influence the judicial decision.
