Traffic experts warn of traffic restrictions that will be waiting for drivers throughout the weekend. An intersection in the city center will be closed on Monday, so drivers are advised to plan other routes in advance.
The municipality of the city of Kaunas announced that from Friday evening car traffic will be banned at the intersection of Maironis and K. Donelaičio streets. Traffic restrictions will continue throughout the weekend and driving will only be possible on Monday mornings.
Such traffic restrictions are reported to have been necessary due to the construction that took place at said crossing. Now the builders are going to dismantle the equipment, which requires more space. To ensure the safety of the works, the decision was made to temporarily divert the flow of traffic to other streets in the central part of Kaunas.
“Attention, drivers! As of Friday evening, traffic will be closed for the entire weekend on the Maironio street part at the intersection with K. Donelaičio street. A tower crane will be dismantled at a nearby construction site on Monday. It will be necessary to temporarily disassemble the public lighting poles in order to transport it safely. The works must be finished and car traffic must resume before the end of the weekend ”, announced the representatives of the municipality on the social network.

“Please choose alternative routes between Laisvės Alėja, Kęstučio and K.Donelaičio streets. We apologize for any inconvenience,” the specialists said, adding that to save time, drivers should plan their travel routes in advance.
