The missing woman and her husband arrived on the island of Maamunagau, the Intercontinental Resort, 12 days ago to relax. The next day, after the couple stayed at the hotel, she collapsed, writes thenationalnews.com.
The woman’s husband, Parmar Gursharanjit Singh, said they rested by the pool, and then G. Vaškytė went to the beach alone to swim.
After a five-day search, local police concluded that the woman likely drowned at sea, but family members are searching for more answers to her mysterious disappearance. The woman’s husband shared his fears that his wife may have been kidnapped.
“As a result, we will award $ 100,000 to those who can provide information about her whereabouts or help us find her,” said Uday Singh.
Representatives of the Local Police said that the report of the missing person was received on February 13 at 9:00 p.m.
“A 33-year-old Canadian citizen was reported missing after she went for a swim around 7pm that night. The Maldivian police, army and resort staff conducted a search operation, including aerial search and diving, for five days without interruption.
“The research team has serious evidence to suggest that it sank at sea and we have no evidence to suggest otherwise.”
Hotel representatives stated that they continue to work closely with the responsible authorities in this case.
