According to data from the pre-trial investigation, in November 2019, both defendants participated in a hunt in Druskininkai municipality. During the hunt, these individuals were suspected of having hunted an adult male elk in a prohibited manner while driving. It is believed that after the hunt, the defendant intentionally forged a royal document and recorded in it that the beast had been hunted acceptably, stalking and meeting the requirements of other hunting rules. In this way, the accused may have sought to evade the administrative responsibility they face for illegal hunting: fines that range between 800 and 1,800 euros.

Pretrial detention is a written commitment not to leave.

The Penal Code establishes that any person who has presented a false document, falsified a genuine document or has knowingly known, falsified or falsified a genuine document will be punished with a fine or arrest or imprisonment of up to three years.

The pre-trial investigation was led by officials from the Alytus County Police Chief Commissariat, and the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division Prosecutor Nomeda Urbonavičienė led and will support the state prosecution in the tribunals.

The criminal case was transferred to the Alytus Chamber of the Alytus District Court.
