We remind you that by decision of the LFF Executive Committee (SC) meeting on February 18, teams from the 9 A league were approved, and the tenth place was for the team of FC Jonava or Alytus DFK Dainava.
From the meeting until the final decision was made, intense discussions were held with the leaders of both clubs and the mayors of the cities, as well as the position of the A league clubs to find the best solution.
An Emergency Committee meeting was held on Monday night and committee members voted on Tuesday. After the vote, it was clear that Alytus DFK “Dainava” will start in the next league A season.
Club Alytus last played in league A in 2014.
“We communicate a lot with the directors of the Dainava and Jonava clubs, as well as the mayors of both cities, to assess the situation in a very responsible way. The decision was very difficult, but until today it turned out to be fairer, ”said Tomas Danilevičius, LFF President and Chairman of the Emergency Committee.
According to Article 38 of the LFF Competition Rules, the Alytus club competing in league A will be penalized with 3 points.
According to the LFF 2021 approved by the Executive Committee on January 28 of this year. financial rules for the promotion of clubs, the Alytus club will receive a benefit of 10,000 euros from the COVID-19 fund, which they received for the LFF I league license received.
The club will also be reimbursed for all evaluation costs, and the 2021 season solidarity funds will be awarded if Dainava, without exception, passes the 2022 season license procedure and obtains the appropriate level of license.
The League A season begins the first weekend of March.
