January 4 At night, officials from the Utena Wildlife Protection Inspectorate of the Department of Environmental Protection in Utena district, in the hunting area unit of the Dvarašilis Hunters Club, detained a person who had hunted a red deer illegally. The offender faces a fine of up to € 1,800 and environmental damage of € 3,678.
Utena environmentalists, who went to the suspect’s home, found that the person had illegally used these hunting areas and had illegally hunted a restricted animal – a red deer cub.
The offender loaded the puppy into a Toyota Avensis car, drove it to the farm in the Utena district, and dressed the animal by hanging it from an apple tree branch.
An administrative misconduct protocol has been developed for a person for a serious administrative misconduct. A fine of between € 800 and € 1,800 will be imposed for this crime, with deprivation of the right to hunt for one to five years with confiscation of the tools and instruments of the administrative offense.
Environmentalists took a car, a pistol with an optical sight, a knife, the corpse of a deer cub, and garbage from the attacker. The person will also have to compensate for the damage caused to nature – 3678.40 Eur.
The decision on the amount of the administrative fine and the confiscation of the tools and means to commit the crime will be made by the Utena Chamber of the District Court of Utena after hearing the case of the administrative offense.
